A murder inquiry has begun after a man was found dead at a house in Co Down yesterday afternoon.
Detectives said the man in his 60s was found dead in the house on the outskirts of Kilkeel when the emergency services arrived around lunchtime.
A woman, also in her 60s, was also discovered with serious injuries and was taken to hospital. She is said to be in a stable condition.The emergency services were called to the house following concerns for the couple who lived there. It is believed all three people involved may be related, and the matter is being treated as a domestic incident.The family is well known in the coastal town and the incident has caused deep shock in the close-knit community.
Police inquiries are continuing, but detectives say a firearm was not used to inflict the injuries on the couple.
