I had a stroke back in the spring and it was a frightening experience. It was a shock to everyone, as I am only 58.

I came away from that last appointment feeling angry and frustrated, and still feel that way now. And the longer this goes on without any real progress, the more depressed I feel. For many people, it may also mean adjusting to a new ‘normal’ and accepting that some functions may may never recover fully.

Whatever rehab services you get, it’s important to start slowly and use them consistently. Don’t expect too much too quickly; work with the therapist to set small, achievable goals. The last few times have been really vicious and I am worried that one of these days he is going to lose it completely.
