The League of Ireland’s growing popularity is pumping millions into the Irish economy - and leading to calls for increased investment
Calls for greater investment into the League of Ireland have been amplified following the launch on Wednesday morning of an Economic Impact Assessment of the game in this country.
It took into account the development of both men's and women's football - and found that in 2023, the League of Ireland contributed €164.7 million to the Irish economy. 19.5 percent - The growth in attendance across all League of Ireland matches from 2022 to 2023, with 826,086 fans buying tickets in 2023.
1,464 - In the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division, the highest attendance was 1,464 for the match between Shamrock Rovers and Peamount United at Tallaght Stadium.
