The Attorney General has found that the government’s legal strategy towards nursing home fees was “sound and accurate”.
The Attorney General launched an investigation into allegations that the government pursued a secret strategy to minimise public payouts to nursing home residents who were charged “illegally”. It comes following a report in the Mail on Sunday which cited documents it claimed revealed a “secret plan” to hide the true scale of the State’s liability for “illegal” nursing home charges, as it was concerned at potentially being on the hook for up to €12 billion in compensation.
