After breaking the record for the women's 87kg weightlifting, Aussie athlete Eileen Cikamatana has become the first ever female to win gold medals for multiple nations.
This record-breaking success at the 2022 Games came four years after her gold medal triumph during the Gold Coast event, representing Fiji at the time. Soon after that event she switched allegiances. Now, at just 22 years of age, Cikamatana becomes a two-time Commonwealth Games champion, this time setting records in both her first and second lifts in the event for Australia. Her first snatch lift of 110kg set the Games record in that category, then she lifted 129kg with her first clean-and-jerk attempt, then 137kg to cement the gold medal. That last lift also set a new Games recordHer final score came in at almost 20kg ahead of any of her competitors.
