Sam Stosur's singles career has come to an end, after a second-round defeat to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the Australian Open. Follow our live updates:

The Australian wildcard Chris O’Connell ensures the day four upsets continue with a huge straight-sets win over 13th seed Diego Schwartzman 7-6 , 6-4, 6-4 in three hours and seven minutes.

After Schwartzman broke him in the eighth game to level things up in the third set 4-4, O’Connell broke back straight away to take a 5-4 lead before serving out the match. O’Connell progresses to the third round of a grand slam for the first time in his career, and the 27-year-old will face America’s Maxime Cressy for a place in the round of 16.

O’Connell might have committed 10 more unforced errors than Schwartzman , but made up for that with a big advantage in the winners column . The Australian converted four of 11 break-point chances, compared to the Argentine’s two of eight, and O’Connell also sent down more aces .Schwartzman becomes the latest giant to be slayed after top women’s seeds Garbine Muguruza and Anett Kontaveit were also sent packing earlier today.
