Avalanche left wing and team captain Gabe Landeskog will undergo knee surgery Monday and is out indefinitely, coach Jared Bednar said Saturday.

He added that the team is “hoping” Landeskog will be back before the beginning of the playoffs in late April/early May and that they’ll know more after the surgery. Landeskog, who leads the Avs with 30 goals, wasn’t visibly injured during Thursday’s 2-0 loss at Carolina and he didn’t mention sustaining an injury after the game.

In other injury news, defenseman Sam Girard will miss approximately four weeks with a lower-body injury, Bednar said. Girard did not play against the Hurricanes.
