IAA also expects demand to ‘significantly exceed’ the 32 million-a-year passenger cap next year

The IAA has proposed a seat capacity limit of 25.2 million for next summer in a bid to control Dublin Airport passenger numbers. RollingNews.ie

If implemented, it would be the second consecutive flight scheduling season in which capacity growth at the airport has been curtailed as it struggles to keep under the cap imposed on it by An Bord Pleanála in 2007 when it first granted planning permission for the new north runway. DAA, meanwhile, said the winter capacity limits did not go far enough to prevent a breach of the cap and has challenged the IAA’s decision in the High Court, where the case will be heard in December.

“The seat cap is greater than the passenger cap as it takes account of expected load factors and an adjustment for transfer passengers,” the IAA said.
