Axel Rudakubana, 18, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 52 years for the murders of Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and the attempted murder of eight other children in Southport. The judge described Rudakubana's culpability as 'equivalent to terrorist matters,' despite finding no evidence of a terrorist motive.

Sarah Hammond, chief crown prosecutor for the Mersey Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service, said Alex Rudakubana used the al Qaida training manual to plan his attack. “And his only purpose on July 29 was to target those young girls and to kill the most vulnerable people in our society. He wanted to spread fear and outrage.”
“They had come together for a Taylor Swift-themed morning to enjoy dancing, singing and making friendship bracelets in honour of their idol.
