Ayrshire golfer Jack McDonald fulfilled a lifetime ambition by competing in an Open Championship on home turf.The Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club member finished seven shots over par, improving on his first round score of 76 by producing 73 today, giving him a 36-hole total of 149.
McDonald said: "I would love to play in these competitions week in, week out. After getting a taste of it this week, yeah, I feel as if I'll be more and more ready to come and do this because I think it's awesome, and I think the way the course is set up and everything about it is awesome. Asked if there's any reason he couldn't appear at a major again, McDonald responded: "Yeah, well, it's just - I just want to go out there, and I think now especially, even like with John caddying and stuff like that, it just gave me a lot of good things going forward that I can look back on."
