San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke gives Ryan Lindley his first opportunity as an OC, saying 'I was impressed with his growth as a football coach'
The shakeup on the San Diego State football staff continued Tuesday evening when SDSU head coach Brady Hoke announced that interim offensive coordinator Jeff Horton has retired and quarterbacks coach Ryan Lindley has been promoted to offensive coordinator.Another shoe was expected to drop any day as Horton determined his future. He had said short after taking over as OC that he would not do it beyond the 2022 season.
The moves coincided with safety Jalen Mayden returning to quarterback and resulted in SDSU winning four of its next five games after a 2-3 start. The Aztecs finished 7-6 after losing their last two games of the season, to Air Force in the regular season finale and Middle Tennessee State in the Hawaii Bowl.
