The 2020 BAFTAs were a night of great speeches and unexpected moments. Joaquin Phoenix and Renée Zellweger took home the top awards for acting, while Rebel Wilson's hilarious acceptance speech entertained the crowd. The ceremony also saw recognitions for films like '1917' and 'Parasite'.
It was a big night for entertainment last night. Not only was the Superbowl on, marked by an incredible halftime performance from Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. The BAFTAs awards ceremony took place too. There weren’t too many surprises among the winners of the 2020 BAFTAs. But it was a night for great speeches. One that people have been talking about in particular came from ’The Hustle’ star Rebel Wilson . The comedic actress not only made fun of the flop that was ’Cats’, which she co-starred in.
Laura Dern used her speech to commemorate her mother, actress Diane Ladd, who won the BAFTA for Best supporting Actress herself for the Martin Scorsese movie ’Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.’ Margot Robbie accepted Brad Pitt’s award win for best supporting actor for ’Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, on his behalf. Reading Pitt’s words, Robbie joked, ’Hey Britain. Heard you just became single. Welcome to the club. Wishing you the best with the divorce settlement.
