Don't be caught out with excess baggage at the airport heading on your summer holiday and have to pay a hefty fee - here's everything you need to know about the baggage allowance for major airlines

One of the most important things to be aware of when you are getting a flight abroad is the baggage allowance.

Here's everything you need to know about the baggage allowance for some of the most popular airlines.Non-Priority customers are permitted to only take one small personal bag onboard, which must not exceed 40 x 20 x 25cm, and must fit under the seat in front. They also allow you to carry two items of baby equipment free of charge per child. There is no cabin bag allowance for an infant . However, they allow a baby bag up to 5kg for babies travelling on an adult's lap.

If your booking includes a carry-on bag, you must take this bag on board with you. A small personal item is also included for all customers.A fully collapsible push-chair/stroller is allowed free of charge for an infant or child booking, plus one of the following items: car seat, booster seat or travel cot.

If you're travelling with an infant , you'll be able to bring an extra bag for them for in-flight essentials, which is included in your allowance. However, if you pay for a plane seat for your infant, they're booked as a ‘child’ and are given the same baggage allowance as an adult.
