Their last defeat in Munster was as holders in the 2019 final to Borris-Ileigh and they have been drawn in the preliminary round each year since.

Ballygunner’s haul of five Munster titles is a record they hold with Blackrock of Cork, who won all of theirs between 1971 and ‘79, while their last final was in 2001, when Ballygunner beat them to win their first title.
