Bambie is among several Eurovision contestants who released a statement this morning.
Ireland's Eurovision hopeful Bambie Thug has confirmed they will not boycott the song contest amid Israel’s participation – but called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
But on Friday, Bambie lent their name to a new statement clarifying their position in the song contest after they previously called for Israel to be excluded from the competition.“We want to begin by acknowledging the privilege of taking part in Eurovision,” the statement reads. “We feel that it is our duty to create and uphold this space, with a strong hope that it will inspire greater compassion and empathy.”
The country’s own entry faced scrutiny from the competition’s organisers, resulting in the lyrics being rewritten.
