Bambie flies the flag for Ireland tonight in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest
Eurovision hopeful Bambie Thug has said they want to bring the song contest to Cork if they win - and not Dublin.
Bambie said "it would mean everything" to win. "It would mean everything for us. I am so proud of my country on a global scale. It would be amazing for Cork too. Imagine, Cillian Murphy wins the Oscar and we win the Eurovision." “There is a different energy definitely today,” they said when speaking about Friday’s last dress rehearsal. Bambie also said they “cried” when they found out Israel’s Eurovision entry, Eden Golan, had successfully qualified for the final. Bambie emotionally replied: “I cried.” They believe that Israel's participation is creating “a cloud” over Eurovision.
“I think so. I think we are an incredibly imaginative and poetic nation, and my act is a homage to Ireland’s roots. Some of the most incredible minds I know are my Irish creative friends.” A statement from the European Broadcasting Union to the PA news agency said: “We are currently investigating an incident that was reported to us involving the Dutch artist. He will not be rehearsing until further notice. We have no further comment at this time and will update in due course.”
