Aqib Nawaz tested positive for cocaine and cannabis
A banned driver who was under the influence of drugs led police on a high-speed chase in his BMW before losing control and spinning onto a grass verge.
Officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis when approaching the car, and samples taken proved he had cannabis and cocaine in his system Paul Cummings told Preston Crown Court, reports LancsLive.Samples were taken which showed the driver had levels of cannabis, cocaine and cocaine metabolite above the legal levels.
The judge said Nawaz had a number of health conditions and had been abusing drink and drugs since he was 12 years old. "You weren't expecting to have this vehicle overnight but something fell through and you made a foolish decision to move the vehicle. You panicked when you saw the police and you were pursued.
"Fortunately, no damage was done but your behaviour really was dangerous and presented a real risk to other people.
