Critics have praised Barry Keoghan's 'superb' performance as a young father in the new drama from acclaimed filmmaker Andrea Arnold
Barry Keoghan 's latest film received a rapturous reception as it held its world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Keoghan stars as the young father, with renowned German actor Franz Rogowski also part of the cast as an eccentric, troubled man called Bird, who soon opens up a new world for Bailey.Bird, directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Andrea Arnold, earned a seven-minute standing ovation as it helds its world premiere at the Grand Lumiere Theatre on Thursday.
Following the film's screening at Cannes, the first reviews for the film have been release, with Keoghan's performance drawing plenty of praise from critics. Film journalist Alex Billington said that Keoghan's performance in Bird was unlike anything the Irishman has done previously. "Finally finally finally a director actually pushes Barry Keoghan to give a performance unlike everything he's done before. This is what great filmmakers can do with real talent!! Such a relief. Yes yes, Andrea Arnold, YES!!" he wrote on social media.
