Devin Williams, Jr., a 24-year-old deputy for the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, is now facing felony murder charges in Alameda County Superior Court after allegedly murdering his lover, Maria Tran, and her husband, Benison Tran early Wednesday morning in their Dublin home., Dublin police received a call at 12:45 a.m. from Maria’s brother alleging that Williams shot the couple. Police found them with gunshot wounds to their heads; shell casings labeled “Speer 9mm” were found at the scene.
License plate readers revealed Williams’ car driving south on Fallon Gateway near the couple’s home shortly after the call. At around 11 a.m. that day, Williams surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody in Coalinga, 147 miles away from the scene of the alleged murders, the police department told SFGATE Wednesday.
Police detectives say they learned from Williams’ father that his son was in a relationship with Maria Tran and that she had visited their home in Stockton.
