The Bay Area once again ranked as the country's most expensive metropolitan area despite falling behind from last year.
The Bay Area claimed 37 of the top 100 most expensive ZIP codes in the country, with one local town taking the No. 1 spot for the seventh year in a row, according to a recently released report by PropertyShark. Atherton's 94027 ZIP code is once again the most expensive place in the country to buy a home. With a median home price of $8.3 million, the town has topped PropertyShark's list since 2017.
The Bay Area remains the most expensive metropolitan area in the country, according to PropertyShark, but the region was down nine ZIP codes from last year's 46. Sixteen of those ZIP codes were in Santa Clara County, while eight were in San Mateo County, six in Marin County, four in Contra Costa County and three in San Francisco. No Alameda County communities made the list. The Bay Area was also home to the list's sharpest year-by-year decrease: Marin County's Ross dropped to No.
