A Bayonne senior struck a sanitation company worker Friday morning and then nearly struck a police sergeant attempting to stop him from fleeing, police said.
The driver, later identified as 70-year-old James S. Cooper, had pinned the worker between his vehicle and the garbage truck on West 48th Street, between Broadway and Avenue C, police were told. Cooper then backed up and offered the victim money for the crash, Amato said.
