BBC Director General Tim Davie has spoken for the first time about the ongoing Strictly Come Dancing controversy.
Speaking to the media, he went on: "Strictly is a wonderful show. That brings a lot of joy to a lot of people and has done so for 20 years to both those involved with the show itself and to millions of people at home. Hundreds of people be the pros contestants or crew had been part of it and had a brilliant experience. At the same time, if someone feels there was something wrong or they would talk about their experience. Then of course we want them to raise that with us.
This year's report featured a picture of Strictly on page one, reports the Mirror, with the show hailed as one of the jewels in the BBC's crown, having won the Entertainment Programme BAFTA just two months ago. However, the series is now facing a crisis as it grapples with how to move forward while maintaining the family-friendly image that has been its hallmark for two decades.
Over the weekend, Amanda Abbington accused Pernice of being "abusive, cruel and mean" following her decision to raise concerns with legal firm Carter Ruck. She expressed: "I couldn't sit back and let him do that to other people. I had to think long and hard about making a complaint because I knew the backlash I would get. But I would not have been able to live with myself for future people going on that show.
An insider commented: "This would suggest her more serious claims are without merit, and is a massive boost to Giovanni's case." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
