An independent review commissioned by the BBC has found that several individuals had concerns about Russell Brand's behavior during his time with the broadcaster, but felt unable to raise them. The review, published by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches, investigated eight complaints against Brand, with only one formally made to the BBC.

Four women have accused comedian and actor Russell Brand of sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013, allegations that he denies. An independent review commissioned by the BBC , led by Peter Johnston , investigated eight complaints against Brand, with only one formally made to the broadcaster. The review, published on Thursday by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches, found that a number of individuals had concerns about Brand's behavior but felt unable to raise them at the time.

Many interviewees believed, rightly or wrongly, that Brand would always get his way and therefore remained silent. The report also noted that the single complaint made in 2007 was not dealt with effectively. Johnston expressed gratitude to those who came forward to speak with him and his team, and apologized on behalf of the BBC to those most directly affected. He acknowledged that the cultural climate of the time likely influenced what was considered acceptable or tolerated. The BBC stated that the review considered eight complaints of misconduct against Brand, with only two made while he was employed by the broadcaster – one formally and one informally. The BBC expressed concern that some individuals felt unable to raise concerns about Brand's behavior at the time and apologized to them as part of the review. The broadcaster emphasized that it has since introduced mechanisms and routes for staff to raise concerns
