We tested PowerBeats Pro 2 for three weeks and here are the reasons why you can’t buy better sports earphones
After almost six years since the first iteration of PowerBeats Pro became the king of the fitness earphones market, Apple and Beats by Dre are back with a ground-breaking successor that includes a built-in heart rate monitor.
The big question is whether PowerBeats Pro 2 are worth the lengthy wait and, spoiler alert, yes they are. Here are all the reasons why… Powerbeats Pro 2 Heart Rate Monitoring feature is already compatible with an ever-growing range of apps such as Peleton, Nike Run Club and Open. As these are an Apple product, you also get Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking too. It’s not a feature I use consistently when listening to music but I do enjoy it immensely when watching compatible Dolby Atmos movies and TV shows.
The good news is Beats has equalled Apple’s best-performing ANC tech on PowerBeats Pro 2. They don’t quite block out as much noise as ANC kings Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds or some over-ear ANC cans, but it’s probably not fair to compare as they are not like-for-like products. In terms of fitness earphones I’ve tested, PowerBeats Pro 2 have the best ANC.
Comfortable and secure fit A secure fit and all-day comfort is welcome on all earphones but it is especially important on buds that will be used in an active lifestyle in which sports and fitness play a part. Excellent battery life and wireless charging Powerbeats Pro 2 give you up to 45 hours of battery life with the charging case, with each bud delivering up to 10 hours of playback from a single charge for countless miles or reps.
Incidentally, the charging case is one-third more compact than its predecessor and it is the first ever Beats By Dre charging case to support wireless charging.
