The AEC is preparing for Australia’s first referendum in more than 20 years when Australians vote on the Voice to Parliament on October 14th. Sky News Chief Election Analyst Tom Connell went behind the scenes with Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers to see how preparations are going. “No electrical event is simple or easy but certainly when you’ve just got that one ballot paper it’s a more simple process,” Mr Rogers told Sky News Australia. “We are ready, the role is in the best shape it’s ever been, we think we’re heading in the right direction but it’s a really complex, logistic event. “It involves every eligible adult Australian, it’s a big, complex, logistic task.”

Mining magnate Clive Palmer and UAP Senator Ralph Babet launched the court challenge against the AEC in September. “Unlike a cross, which has more than one signification, either approval or disapproval … the tick approves or selects the affirmative as the voter’s answer,” Justice Steven Rares said.
