Boris Johnson plots another reboot of his premiership - but is fighting key figures in his own party who think it's time for him to walk
The Prime Minister is reeling from a pair of by-election defeats, the resignation of Tory party chairman Oliver Dowden and growing calls to change rules that would allow for another confidence vote on his leadership.
But it would follow past attempts at reboots following the damaging Partygate scandal and the failed attempt to oust him during the last Tory vote of confidence in him.reports this new attempt at revitalising his Mr Johnson's premiership will consist of a plan to curb inflation; to boost growth; to help with cost of living issues; to improve families' economic security; to invest in public services; to invest in people and skills.
While the PM has been told cut taxes to help people deal with the cost of living crisis, it is understood both men believe that will have to wait until inflation has peaked."I am thinking actively about the third term and what could happen then, but I will review that when I get to it."He told reporters he wanted to drive forward with his "colossal" levelling up policy.
"He got Brexit done, he handled Covid fine and got the vaccine programme and he's done well on Ukraine, but people think he's a liar and a shady bugger and that's binary, it's black and white."Nothing about the cost of living is going to change that."
