'I struggled walking, breathing and generally getting about, everything ached'
A Northern Ireland woman has opened up about her struggles with her weight in the hope to inspire others in a similar position.
"The pandemic did me no favours either. I was stuck in the house eating and drinking whatever I wanted and wearing loose clothing, no one was gonna see me after all. But coming out of lockdown really made me question myself, I was the heaviest I’d ever been. My back was aching, my knees were sore and I felt so uncomfortable in my clothes.
She added: "How had I let my weight creep up like this? I knew I had to do something about it. I arrived home on Tuesday evening and went straight to google to find my nearest Slimming World group as I’d heard positive stories. At 8.30am that Saturday, I nervously walked into the Ravenhill group at Ulster Temple on my own.
"My social life continued and as the weight came off, my confidence returned. The aches and pains were disappearing, so much so I joined a bootcamp, which only enhanced my weight loss. I lost three stone in one year and reached my target weight and I have been able to maintain that ever since. I have made good habits, without even thinking about it.
