A Bessemer man did not take a 25-year sentence well this week. Mario Wormley, 37, initially charged with capital murder, entered a “blind plea” to a reduced charge of murder. After he learned the sentence, he became irate, flipped a table and punched a TV.

Washington said Wormley could face new charges for his disruptive behavior and the destruction of government property.The deadly shooting happened Sept. 23, 2018, in Bessemer. Authorities said Riddle was at someone else’s home in the 4700 block of Little Drive when Wormley man came to the home and some kind of altercation erupted.
The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Riddle was rushed to UAB Medical West, where he was pronounced dead at 8:06 p.m.at the time of Riddle’s death. “My little brother’s life was taken at the hand of a coward,’’ said his sister, Porshe Riddle. “My brother did not hang around in the streets. All he did was work and come home.”
