as parents Andrew and Nicci, whose daughter, Marnie, was born with a muscular dystrophy that causes complications to her vital organs. At 13 years old, not long after she is rushed into hospital and put on a ventilator, the paediatric consultants decide it is in Marnie’s best interests to end treatment and allow her to die. And so begins Nicci and Andrew’s bitter legal battle with the doctors.last year.
After an accident at home, and following a horrendously public legal dispute, the 12-year-old’s life support was switched off against the wishes of his parents. The story was whipped up into one of those out-of-hand media frenzies which detracted from the very real-life struggles of the family at the heart of it.
