It was only when Beth Matthews died that her family found how many people she helped with her writing.

The chief executive of charity Mental Health UK, Brian Dow, says Beth had a special ability to explain the "raw, really challenging moments" that many people face. Sgt Roberts and his team now routinely use knowledge and experience they learned from Beth when dealing with high-risk situations.Yet while she was doing so much to help others, Beth was still suffering with physical pain from her injuries and mental health struggles.
