Original Lo-Pan actor James Hong shares his thoughts on Dwayne Johnson's BigTroubleInLittleChina reboot. 'Without Lo-Pan? How dare he. [Chuckles]'
Dwayne Johnson has been trying at a Big Trouble in Little China reboot, on which Lo-Pan actor James Hong is sharing his thoughts. The Rock has not been shy about his desire to bring life back into the Kurt Russell-led genre-defying film, which came out in 1986. John Carpenter's original Big Trouble in Little China followed Russell's character Jack Burton and his wild adventures in and around San Francisco's Chinatown.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Although he had his hands full with Black Adam for some time, Johnson has also been pining for this reboot for some years now, though there has been a lack of details regarding anything about the potential reboot since it was first announced in 2015, save for it being described as a follow-up rather than a remake.
Without Lo-Pan? How dare he. [Chuckles] Well, I think they should leave the classic alone. However, I'd like to reappear in the new one and do something spiritually, like Star Wars where the characters come back and do a reprieve of some kind. Obviously, because let's admit it, Lo-Pan is a huge part of that first one, so how can you forget him?
Will The Rock's Big Trouble In Little China Reboot Happen? Although Johnson is one of, if not the biggest name in Hollywood right now, this passion project of his cannot seem to get any actual traction. Word first got out in 2015 about the Johnson-led Big Trouble in Little China reboot, however producer Hiram Garcia has admitted to running into some trouble on the legal side of rebooting the film.
It is safe to assume that the Big Trouble in Little China reboot is a ways away if anything, given Johnson is one of the busiest men in Hollywood, namely as he's now made his way to the DCEU with Black Adam and is also putting together Jungle Cruise 2 for Disney, two Red Notice sequels for Netflix and Red One at Prime Video.
