Bitcoin surges to a record above $66,000 after taking another step towards mainstream status as the world's most popular cryptocurrency forayed onto Wall Street
Bitcoin has breached its historic record as it rides a wave of excitement about getting further accepted by the financial establishment.
Shares of the ProShares BitCoin Strategy ETF changed hands 24.1 million times in a resounding debut. Investors are getting more interested in crypto because they're always looking for assets whose prices moves independently of everything else in their portfolios. Crypto still hasn't won over everyone, though. Critics say they're still not widely used as forms of payment.
