Black Eyed Peas praised for Galway gig apology as star ‘inspired by Ireland’s fight for independence’
Black Eyed Peas got themselves into a sticky situation over the June bank holiday weekend after mistaking Ireland for the UK during a gig in Galway.
But at one point, the band mistook Ireland for the UK when addressing the massive crowd as boos rang out.One concertgoer took to social media to vent their frustration at the blunder as they said: "The Black Eyed Peas were fantastic in Galway tonight, but somebody needs to tell them Ireland is not in the UK.
However, band frontman Will.I.Am issued a swift apology, which is being praised by many fans who are calling for people to “move on”. A few hours later he issued an update in a reply to a user, saying: “You’re 1000% correct…It’s not confusion…I spend lots of time in this part of the world to know the difference…todays mess up was honest airhead embarrassing mistake…and I’m sorry…the republic of Ireland fought for their independence…and that’s inspiring…”One Twitter user said: “Class act to admit and apologise. We love @iamwill. Moving on now folks.
