Black Rock Coffee Bar opening with free java in Memorial on Friday

Black Rock Coffee, a Portland-based coffee chain, is opening a new store in west Houston on Feb. 10.Black Rock Coffee Bar will give away free drinks all day Friday to celebrate the opening of its newest Houston location.

Customers at the new Memorial location at 901 Dairy Ashford Road can order free 16-ounce drinks throughout the day. The Memorial store will be the Portland, Ore.-based chain's 18th in Texas and eighth in Houston.“We love Texas,” Jeff Hernandez, executive chairman of Black Rock, said in a release. “We want to be in markets where we think the culture, community, people and their families fit with our brand — and Houston is that for us.
