Black women suffering worse gender pay gap by LeahMahon_
LABOUR HAS renewed calls for ethnicity pay gap reporting to be made mandatory after women from ethnic minority backgrounds have been found to be experiencing the worst pay gaps.
Anneliese Dodds MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, called on the government to “get a grip” on the racial disparities and to introduce mandatory ethnicity pay reporting for companies with over 250 employees. The Runnymede Trust, a charity furthering racial equality in the UK, estimates that Black, Asian and minority ethnic people are twice as likely than white people to experience “deep poverty,” meaning their income will fall 50% below the poverty line while dealing with stark pay disparities.
