Jaures Kumbu, from Brookhaven Grove, in Blanchardstown, walked out the door with the submachine gun after witnessing someone shooting a man in front of him. Jason Hennessy Senior died after being shot while having dinner with family and friends at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on Christmas Eve.The gunman died at the scene and a number of men are due to stand trial for his murder tomorrow.
After the shooting, Jaures Kumbu was identified on CCTV footage putting the gun under his top before leaving the restaurant.At Kumbu’s sentence hearing today, his barrister pleaded for leniency, pointing out that his client didn’t bring the gun to the restaurant.He said he didn’t engage in any violence whatsoever and accepts he made a stupid mistake out of fear for his own life having seen someone being shot in front of him.
