Blink-182's Travis Barker pays tribute to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins
The two rockers met more than 20 years ago in California, Barker remembered, before either had achieved significant success in the music industry.Memories: Barker, 46, shared a fond memory from Blink-182's heyday of touring Australia with the Foos when both groups were at their commercial peak. 'I have the best memories of smoking cigarettes in the restroom of flights we were on together,' he wrote on Instagram.
News of Hawkins' death broke on Saturday, March 26, the day after he was found unresponsive in his Bogota hotel room. Foo Fighters had been scheduled to play at the Festival Estéreo Picnic in the Colombian capital where an announcement told concert-goers the band would not be playing due to a 'serious medical condition'.
Hawkins, who was married to his wife Alison, and a father to two teenage children, Oliver and Annabelle, had just completed a host of tour dates in South America.
