'It's quite a low thing to do'
Volunteers of a vital service that delivers blood to emergency services are asking for the public's help after their bike was stolen and damaged. On Friday , a Blood Bike was stolen outside the Stockport home of a volunteer at around 2am.
Speaking to the MEN, volunteer and rider Steven Durden said: "It's quite a low thing to do because the bikes are obviously fully marked up with fluorescent paint and Blood Bike markings. I understand there's burglaries all the time but you think even in the mind of a criminal there's a sort of line of morality and I think that's really passed it.
"Unfortunately one of our other bikes was written off so we're already a bike down, so losing another bike has had a serious impact on the charity, we're down to three bikes and three four-wheeled vehicles. "On the night in question because that was the only bike on duty we then had to rely on four wheel vehicles for any other emergencies that came through which in fuel and running costs alone costs the charity more.
