Detectives are probing the suspicious death of a man in Lanark on Wednesday, October 4.

A frightened neighbour told how a blood-splattered man wearing only underwear was seen screaming for help in a Lanark street hours before a body was discovered.

Detectives confirmed they are treating the death as suspicious and are following a positive line of enquiry. She said: "We heard him coming out into the street last night and he was standing there in only his boxer shorts covered in blood and screaming for help."There must have been a commotion. My motion cameras picked up activity outside through the night.

"This is normally a really quiet street and I have four kids I send out to play all the time. This makes me think twice.
