In a wooded area in Izyum, Russia tried to hide its crimes. Investigators, led by Kharkiv's chief war crimes prosecutor, are determined to uncover them after the area was liberated from Russian control.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Russia had committed war crimes following the latest discovery of a mass burial site in one of Ukraine’s newly-liberated regions.
On Friday, Oleg Kotenko, Ukraine’s Commissioner for the Issues of Persons Disappeared Under Special Circumstances, said the area had been cleared of mines and unexploded munitions, and officials were working to exhume the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, which would be handed over to experts for identification.
