Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the woman had been dead for a couple of days.
The discovery was made in the 300 block of Hollywood Boulevard, which is off U.S. 280 between Homewood and Mountain Brook. A woman was found dead inside a vehicle outside a small strip of businesses in Birmingham.
Authorities said the decomposing remains were found in the back seat of a vehicle at 5:12 p.m. Friday. She was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:05 p.m.
