Cassie Carli, 37, was found Sunday evening, Johnson said in a press conference, after his office executed a search warrant at the Alabama property.
Her ex-boyfriend, Marcus Spanevelo, who was arrested Friday in Tennessee, has a connection to the property, Johnson said. Spanevelo was reportedly booked on charges of tampering with evidence, destruction of evidence, and giving false information concerning a missing person investigation.
A Springville, Alabama, barn is where the body of Cassie Carli was found on April 2, 2022. The Florida woman has been missing for one week. Carli went missing on March 27 along with her 4-year-old daughter, Saylor, around the time that she was supposed to have a custody exchange with Spanevelo, who is the girl’s father, according to reports. Saylor also went missing, but was found two days later and is safe.“It’s not the ending that we wanted obviously,” Johnson said.
Johnson accused Spanevelo of disposing of Carli’s cell phone and being uncooperative when questioned.
