The man who brought the device into the courthouse said it had been left on his car, according to Sheriff”s Lt. Ray Kelly.
OAKLAND — The Wiley Manuel Courthouse on Washington Street was evacuated and streets in the area were shut down Monday morning after a man brought what turned out to be a detonated explosive device inside the building, authorities said.
The device was eventually deterimined to no longer be a threat by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad. The device, about the size of a golf ball according to Sheriff”s Lt. Ray Kelly, was brought inside the courthouse shortly after 9 a.m. by a man who gave it to deputies.Related Articles
