Irish security sources say bombs sent to London airports and Waterloo came from Ireland

“The Met Police Counter Terrorism Command is treating the incidents as a linked series and is keeping an open mind regarding motives,” they added in a statement.

No injuries or disruptions to flights or train services were reported, however DLR services to London City Airport were temporarily suspended as a precaution. Just before 10am, police received a report of a suspicious package at an address in Hounslow, west London. The package was opened by staff at the building, causing the device to initiate, which resulted in part of the package burning.At 11.40am, British transport police were called to reports of a suspicious package in the post room at Waterloo Station. The station was not evacuated but a section of Cab Road was cordoned off.

Officers were alerted to a third suspicious package at offices at City Airport in east London soon after 12pm. The packages at each location were assessed by specialist officers, found to be small improvised explosive devices, and made safe.
