Knowsley Council has warned anyone wishing to hold fireworks and bonfire displays in a public space in the borough must get permission from the council and notify the emergency services.

In addition, organisers of unauthorised events will be held legally responsible if anything goes wrong and face significant costs for the clean up operation.

Knowsley Council, along with Wirral Council and Liverpool City Council have announced that no council funded firework displays will be taking place this year. In Wirral, it is the second year in a row that council funded fireworks have been cancelled.
