U.S. Border Patrol Acting Deputy Chief Tony Barker officially denied the financial claim earlier this month
of the U.S.-side of a binational garden located just feet from the border between Tijuana and San Diego.Binational Friendship Garden of Native Plants
“The original intent was to have the garden trimmed. We take full responsibility, are investigating the event and look forward to working with Friends of Friendship Park on the path forward,” San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison said at the time. Earlier this month, Border Patrol Acting Deputy Chief Tony Barker wrote a letter to supporters of the garden, known as the Friends of Friendship Park, stating that “to further pursue your claim, you must file suit in the appropriate United States District Court no later than six months after the mailing date of this letter.”
