Boris Johnson reveals 90% of Covid patients in ICUs don’t have boosters
"So it's a great thing to do. It's very, very important. Get boosted for yourself, and enjoy New Year sensibly and cautiously."
Yesterday the UK Health Security Agency reported a further 17,269 additional confirmed cases Omicron across the UK, bringing the total to 177,201.But coronavirus-related deaths fell, with 18 fatalities recorded in the UK.Over the three days over the Christmas period, cases had risen by overMr Johnson said that his team have been looking at data, which shows there are a 'lot of cases of Omicron'.
"According to some of the surveys I've seen, 90 per cent of the patients in ICU are people who are not boosted. So, think about that. Think about the risk you're running with your own health if you fail to get a booster."Despite the rise in cases, the PM along with the Health Secretary Sajid Javid have said that New Year celebrations can go ahead as planned.
Mr Sajid this week urged people to take a test before they go out and to be cautious when celebrating."Take a test, ventilation, think about others - but above all, get a booster."Mr Johnson added that people need to continue to come forward and take advantage of the shots across the plethora of sites that are offering them.
