Exclusive - ‘Disrupt Promotions’ says they are founded by Dubai-based businessman Nicolas Link who insisted that he has no connections to the sanctioned mob boss
‘Disrupt Promotions’ says it has just recently acquired several assets from ‘Probellum’ - a boxing firm which took on many fighters that once were paired with the now defunct Kinahan co-founded company ‘MTK Global,’ - and which itself denied links to the mobster.
Mr Link, who did not identify any particular individual in the video, said it was “obvious” that “they” had created a successful industry in the past - but had a lot of problems too. “It’s not something where you would ever find me, it’s not something I’ve ever come for, it’s not something I even understand, so you know it’s really not on my radar to put it bluntly.”
Authorities in the UAE then followed suit with sanctions of their own - targeting bank accounts connected to the Kinahan cartel. The following month it also again tried to distance itself after it emerged that Daniel Kinahan’s cousin Ian Dixon was initially listed as being the manager of ‘Probellum MMA Sports’ when it first registered with the UAE Ministry of the Economy.
“Probellum was launched in September 2021 and our business is only registered in the British Virgin Islands and Delaware, USA. It has no past or present, direct or indirect business relationship with any other “probellum” entity that may have any links to Ian Dixon,” the company said at the time. “I am certainly going to respect that decision but that fighter, irrespective of who is is or who she is, will have to respect our decision as well, which would mean that we would no longer be able to work with them.
Last year leaked data made available by the Centre for Advanced Defence Studies , a US-based non-profit organisation, revealed that Daniel Kinahan was the registered owner of an office that MTK Global called its headquarters in the Jumeirah Bay Tower 3 in Dubai.
