Nottingham City Council has issued a statement
A man has been left "seriously injured" in hospital following a boxing match at a Nottingham sports centre. The incident took place in one of the opening bouts of the night at the charity event in Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Saturday evening .
On-site paramedics attended to the fighter before he was taken to Queen's Medical Centre by ambulance. The event, which was scheduled to run from 5.30pm - 10pm, was hosted by Ultra White Collar Boxing. A Nottingham City Council spokesperson said: “A charity boxing match was hosted at Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Saturday evening where sadly one of the participants was seriously injured during one of the opening bouts.
"On-site paramedics attended to him before an ambulance took him to Queen’s Medical Centre. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
