Officers stopped a group of 'four suspicious males'
Police said officers first stopped 'four suspicious males' at the junction of Kingsway and Green End Road yesterday . They used stop-and-search powers before finding a '50cm machete discarded close-by on the floor'.
One of the males was then arrested on the scene. A post on the GMP Burnage Facebook page said: "*** CHARGED *** The neighbourhood team were patrolling Burnage yesterday targeting those who may be carrying weapons and/or involved in violent crime.
"They saw four suspicious males at the junction of Kingsway and Green End Road, and after utilising their Stop & Search powers, a 50cm machete was found discarded close-by on the floor. Subsequent enquiries attributed it to one of the males, and he was arrested. "Yesterday evening a 16 year old child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with Possession of a Bladed Article in a Public Place.
